Meetings
We meet on the third Saturday of each month at the Cylburn Arboretum in the Greenhouse Classroom, 4915 Greenspring Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland, 21209. Meetings from 10.00 AM until noon; refreshments are provided. Come join us! We are happy to share our knowledge and experience about succulent plants.
At each meeting we will have a guest speaker, slide presentation or a special demonstration on a particular topic of interest to growers of cacti and succulents. Meeting details and an events calendar are included in the club newsletter.
The Arboretum is the gem of Baltimore City’s parks, almost 200 acres crowned by a Victorian mansion, with extensive gardens and walking paths.
Meetings are normally held in the Greenhouse Classroom.
On this webpage http://cylburn.org/gardens-trees-trails/gardens/ scroll down, and click on “Download a map of the gardens (PDF)” to see the location of the Greenhouse Classroom and its parking lot.
Occasionally the meeting may be held in the Cylburn Mansion house. Some meetings may be held at an alternate site such as the Rawlings Conservatory in Druid Hill Park, which has an indoor collection of cacti and succulents. Consult the CSSM newsletter to confirm the exact meeting location for each month.
Plant ID
Do you have a plant you have been unable to identify? Let fellow club members take a stab at it (OUCH)! Mature or flowering plants are ideal, but we’ll give it a try anyway. If you don’t want to bring the plant to a meeting, bring clear and close up photos on a tablet, laptop, or phone.
Library
Our library of almost 200 publications, stored at the Arboretum, is available to members for browsing and borrowing.
Plant Sales
If you have any surplus plants, seeds, pots, books, journals or any other plant related items you want to sell, you can bring them to the meeting. Set your own price, 25% goes to the club to buy new books and cover other club related expenses.
